Ph.D. Programme

PILC offers Ph.D. programme (both Full-time & Part-time) in Linguistics, Anthropology, Tamil Literistics and Folkloristics. PILC faculties encourage inter-disciplinary research integrating the above core disciplines with other humanities and social sciences like History, Archaeology, Grammar, Sociology, Education and so on. The Doctoral Degree Programme is affiliated to the Tamil University, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu.

Candidates possessing foreign degree should pay ₹ 10,000/- in addition to other regular fees. Candidates may apply at any quarter of the academic year. 

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have secured a minimum of 55% of marks (or equivalent grade) in Master's Degree
1. The minimum duration of the course for full-time registration
• With M.Phil. degree is 2 years
• Without M.Phil. degree is 3 years
2. The minimum duration of the course for part-time registration
• a. With M.Phil. degree is 3 years
• b. Without M.Phil. degree is 4 years

M.Phil. Programme

PILC offers M.Phil. programme (Full-time) in Linguistics, Anthropology, Tamil Literistics and Folkloristics. PILC faculties encourage inter-disciplinary M.Phil., programme integrating the above core disciplines with other humanities and social sciences like History, Archaeology, Grammar, Sociology, Education and so on. The M.Phil., Programme is affiliated to the Tamil University, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have secured a minimum of 55% of marks in Master's Degree The duration of the course is one year for teaching and six months for the submission of dissertation. M.Phil. programme begins in June every year.
