R. Sambath
This is a significant contribution to the history of Tamil poetics with special reference to ancient prosodial rules and subsequent developments in post-cankam, devotional and modern literary periods. Twentieth century poets led by Bharathi, introduced innovative techniques which accounted for significant deviations from traditional and conventional metrics. This work analyses this in detail.
